The Role:

We are seeking a meticulous and highly motivated Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will be the custodian of financial accuracy for key projects and corporate functions. You will ensure the integrity of our financial records, maintain strict compliance with national regulations, and provide the critical financial insights that support our strategic decision-making. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional looking to build a career within a respected and dynamic engineering firm.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage Financial Operations: Oversee the full accounting cycle, including accurately recording all financial transactions in Sage 50 (Peachtree) and maintaining a clean and organized chart of accounts.

• Oversee Cash Flow: Manage all accounts payable and receivable activities, ensuring timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections.

• Perform Reconciliations: Conduct rigorous monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of our financial data.

• Prepare Financial Reports: Assist in the preparation of precise monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.

• Ensure Tax Compliance: Take responsibility for preparing and filing all corporate tax returns, ensuring full compliance with Ethiopian tax laws and regulations using online reporting platforms.

• Support Audits: Facilitate internal and external audits by providing thorough documentation and clear, concise information.

• Aid in Budgeting & Cost Control: Collaborate with project managers to support budget preparation and analyze project cost variances.

 

Who You Are (The Ideal Candidate):

• You hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• You possess 3-5 years of proven experience in a full-cycle accounting or bookkeeping role.

• You have demonstrable expertise in Ethiopian taxation laws and hands-on experience with tax filing platforms.

• You are highly proficient in Sage 50 (Peachtree) and are an advanced user of Microsoft Excel (including PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, and complex formulas).

• You have an unwavering attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate work.

• You are an excellent communicator with strong organizational and time-management skills, capable of thriving in a deadline-driven, professional environment.

• Experience in the engineering, construction, or project-based consulting industry is a strong advantage.
